Sølen, also known as Rendalssølen, Søln and Rendalssøln, is a mountain in Rendalen municipality in Hedmark, Norway. The mountain features three peaks: Nordre Sølen, 1,699 m, Midtre Sølen, 1,755 m and Søre Sølen, 1,688 m. Together they create a majestic ridge which is visible from far away.

We hit the road from Falun at 4 pm, travelled 4 hours by car (no other transportation is accessible) and reached Sølen surrounded by darkness. The head torches showed us the way to our little cabin which sheltered us during the night. The day after we ski-toured the whole day until the sun set behind the big mountains. Our short but big and thrilling adventure was over and time had come to go back home to Falun.

It all started with a 2 km hike to the cabin. Full moon, head lights and no wind. Just beyond epic!

On the way up the weather changed. The fog was back and this time with wind and snow as well. Per still in a good mood though. The way down the second peak was the same as the first; No sight and bad snow. But despite the lack of good conditions the trip was a success. A day on the mountain is always a good day. We will be back!
